Brett is a Mount Isan, born and bred. After completing schooling in the Isa, he worked for Mount Isa Mines for a number of years before leaving to set up his own succesful mining supply business.

Brett is interested in most sports, but is particularly interested in motor racing, and would like to see a complex in Mount Isa. Brett represents the City on the board of the North Queensland Sports Foundation, and has recently taken over as the Chair of the Chamber of Commerce following years as the Deputy Chair.

His portfolio on Council has been Major Projects, and he has overseen the CBD Upgrade amongst others, as well as being instrumental in pursuing the large amounts of funds to deliver the Community Helicopter to Mount Isa and its surrounds for those in times of need.
